Wont start after jacking drivers rear wheel?

Featured Replies

Hey guys have you ever had your brat not start after jacking up the drivers rear wheel it was just high enough the take the wheel off, engine was warm no start giving it gas or no, pushed the choke closed and started fine, 84 ea81 brat here with 32/36 webber.

Is it possible, long shot here, a fuel line is rusted or near pinched and the sheer act of DARING to remove a flat tire (the other 80% is perfectly round, a waste) and something is pinching a line?

Could just be a coincidence that something failed at that time. Correlation does not equal causation.  Go back to basics, fuel, spark, air.

Choke, or a stuck float by a little dirt.

Or gnomes.

Im thinking gremlins, becasue its fine now, its just strange that its fine i jack up one wheel and wont start without pushing the choke closed then its fine, the fuel lines all seem fine and theres good flow, i just hope it does'nt do it again when my wifes at work with it or something.

Think i found the culprit, even though the dizzy cap, rotor, plugs and wires are all new the rotor looked like it had about six years worth of corrosion on the contacts so i got to looking and the rubber seal at the top of the dizzy is all dried out cracked and a good third of it is missing, do you guys know if thats a part i can order or something im gonna have to make?

That seal is to help keep moisture out of the cap. Not a real need it item unless you're driving thru unplowed deep snow, as I attempted to do once.

Kept a can of wire dry spray in the BRAT after that.

The fact that it won't start unless the choke is held shut = a fuel delivery issue in the carb itself.

I would suspect the float, needle valve and seat being main issue(s).

Get a better brand cap. Seal it somehow. Nipper, other 80 percent of the tire is round had me lmao.

Gremlins Do love to cause issues. They also seem to love to drink my coffee when I'm not paying attention. I swear there was still a half cup left the last time I looked.
