September 3, 20169 yr My 90 loyale recently kind of sputtered momentarily at highway speed. Then days after suddenly quit at idle in traffic, slightly backfired. I borrowed a fuel pump guage and put it in line of fuel filter. Reads 20 psi. Can anyone please help?
September 3, 20169 yr fuel pressure sounds good. check the timing belts check the rotor in the distributor check for power at the coil
September 3, 20169 yr Does it crank with an even rhythm, or uneven? Pedal down and crank is flood clearing mode. 1 or 2 seconds of carb cleaner into the air intake will make it run for a few seconds if the spark, timing and distributor are all good. Pull one of the smaller hoses to squirt it in toward the throttle body.
September 3, 20169 yr Check all of your spark plug wires and your coil wires to make sure they have clean connections and are firmly seated.
September 3, 20169 yr Author Thanks all, was rotor set screw loosening and falling out eventually. Pain. Does anyone have a shortcut on the ridiculous set screw other than pulling distributor to place set screw for next tune up? She is fixed!
September 3, 20169 yr Always good when it's a simple thing. I have yet to have one of them fall out. Been driving these since 1988.
September 4, 20169 yr Must be a lot of wobble on the distributor shaft. There shouldn't be any. It is time to find another distributor.
September 5, 20169 yr Mine fell out once... next time I do a tune-up I am replacing that screw with a Allen wrench set screw and a little thread locker! that way I know it's something else other than that! Ha ha ha,
