December 4, 20169 yr So I had a fwd turbo XT follow me home, on a trailer I think i have a handle on reviving it, but welcome additional help. Especially since its a turbo. 1st, i'm gonna disable the fuel pump. Trying to keep from getting trash into the fuel system. Next I plan on cranking the engine to see if it builds oil pressure. if that checks out, I will fire it with carb cleaner sprayed after the maf, but before the turbo. Once I know it will fire, I'll start on the fuel system, cleaning it out. Like i said, I think I have a handle on this, but anyone with better ideas, i'm all ears Crappy pic for attention lol
December 5, 20169 yr Author No real clue on when it last ran. Could be 10mo could be 10yrs. Car shows 114k miles on the odo. The motor is free, so its anyone's guess lol.
December 5, 20169 yr I always squirt Marvel Mystery oil in the cylinders if it hasn't ran in who knows how long, just in case it was parked due to overheating issues.Ii let it set for a day, or how ever long you can stand it. New oil and filter also. If the old oil is nasty do a ATF/oil clean out. before I crank it up! Hope the best for you.
December 5, 20169 yr Author Pics for the curious Back window is busted out. Not sure just how bad the sheetmetal is under the interior yet
December 11, 20169 yr Author Motor spins, and makes oil pressure. Havent tried any fuel yet. Unfortunately the body is pretty swiss cheese from the broken back glass. Also the sunroof tray is rotted from some idiot stuffing plastic bags around the seal.
December 18, 20169 yr Author So a squirt of starter fluid, and the motor fired off. Then to my amazement stayed running on the craptastic stuff in the tank! It ran well enough to unload itself off the trailer with 4 flat tires! It idles well, and came up to temp with no signs of coolant leaking, or headgasket issues.
