February 23, 20179 yr Hello, a bit offtopic, but maybe it helps.... Don't have a clue about the head gasket, but please use the OEM intake mainfold gasket. The OEM Subaru are double layer with metal reinforcement, other gaskets on the market are bad quality compared to the Subaru ones. February 23, 20179 yr How about Fel pro? Also, the new gaskets - with proper care- ie no overheating with low coolant- should be good for at least 150k miles, so divide the cost per mile for a way to consider the value. The oem only intake gaskets are part of this...
February 23, 20179 yr Author Where do i find felpro gaskets? I live in sweden and i dont think they sell them here. Cant find any on ebay.

March 6, 20179 yr Author Still waiting for my gaskets but must ask how do you prepair the engine block? I will have my heads resurfaced. Also when tearing down the engine i found out the oil separator was leaking. The corkgasket was failing in the bottom. Can i use another a regular gasket material with some sealant pn both side?
March 6, 20179 yr Usually we just throw away the cork stuff and use straight RTV. Our current favorite libation WRT sealant is ThreeBond 1217H. Nissan has the best price on it here in the US. GD Edited March 6, 20179 yr by GeneralDisorder
March 15, 20179 yr Author Finaly my gaskets recieved. Not the best looking quality but i hope they work out.
March 16, 20179 yr Author Well installed the gaskets and tightening the bolts to 22-43-47 ftlbs and noticed one of the bolts feelt soft. Crap i say...so i might need a timecerts or v-coil. But can i reuse the hedgasket or must i replace it?
March 16, 20179 yr I'd replace headgasket if it's been torqued There is very little substantive data otherwise I think. Everyone said get new one when I had a similar issue with an EJ gasket though those are different materials.
March 16, 20179 yr Author Well i retourqued it and it feels ok. I did not remove the head just open all the bolts like 30-40° an retight.
March 16, 20179 yr You can reuse the gasket as long as the engine has not been heat cycled and the graphite composite has not bonded to any of the surfaces. Part of the process of installing EJ head gaskets has them being torqued and then loosened completely before final torque is applied. GD
July 4, 20178 yr Author Update. Headgaskets was installed and heads resurfaced ,engine runs but have this timing adjusting problem. Today i noticed water on the oilcap. Wth i think not again, second time i replaced the headgaskets and the problem is coming back again. Heads look good with no visible cracks. Is there somwhere else water can leak in to oil?
