Qman
A search for ea71 pistons into ea81 put up these posts. You could refine the search some. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/search.php?searchid=23977
archemitis
you have a perfectly good time tested option for the ea82 to get you to 9.5 to one, which is pretty good. ea82 na spfi pistons i guess lotsa peepl have dont the ea71 to the ea81, but never heard much about it. i think deckin the heads, would be the safest/best way to go. especially with cams!_! GeneralDisorder
I've got an EA81 apart on my bench, and I have an EA71 parts engine that I'll be taking the pistons out of in the next few months. Watch for a write up on this from me. I'll have pictures, and HARD data on piston heights from those two engines..... Decking the heads on an EA81 .020 will bring your compression up to ~9.12:1 near as I can figure. I'm hoping the EA71 pistons will bring it up to about 9.5:1..... subGSR
Ea71 and Ea81 pistons are the same item. The difference with the Ea81 motor is that it has a longer stroke which gives it a higher CC rating. You can put them in either motor with no problems at all Ive done it.subaru brat 84 subaru gsr coupe 72 subaru gsr coupe 74 subaru legacy 94 subaru dl1400
