Lost our only key fob for our 2002 Subaru Outback. Cannot open car door with key without car alarm sounding. Cannot start car due to alarm going off. What to do to avoid expensive solution of new keys & fob. Help!

Add year & make of car

Disconnect battery, now you can work in peace.

There should be a small button on the lower left trim panel down by your knee. If not look under the panel and it may be taped up.

Hold in while you start car.

Get key fob from Ebay and go to cars101.com to the section on programming remote,

O.

There's a way to put it in Valet mode (check your owner's manual), that will prevent the alarm from going off. You might need the remote, though.

Also, when you get out of it, lock the car with the key, not with the button. This will not arm the security system and allow you to unlock it with the key normally.

If the alarm is going off, put the key in the ignition, and quickly turn it from "off" to "on" (2 clicks) 3 times. This will turn off the alarm and allow you to start it.

And yea, used fobs aren't hard or expensive to get a hold of, and you can program them yourself (instructions in the owner's manual).

^^^ that

yeah, just get in and listen to the alarm while you cycle the key from OFF to ON (not Start) 3 times. That should stop the alarm and let you drive the car.
