94 Loyale Cranks and then dies…

Recommended Posts

I have a 94’ Loyale with 136k on her and she fires up first time every time out in the driveway. Driving and accelerating she does fine. If I run a few errands and turn her off, I’ll come back out to start her up, and she will take about 8 cranks to get her running. After she finally cranks, no issues.

I have replaced the fuel pump (20+ years old, doesn’t hurt) and the fuel filter, no resolve. My next thought would be the FPR, so I purchased a Delphi one off of eBay and it’s identical, except the shaft going into the TB has a bigger diameter than the stock one.

So my question is, am I missing anything that I have already considered or changed? It’s an older car and I’m trying to get her out on the road again and dependable.

thanks in advance.

I checked the MAF, cleaned the IAC, and waiting to test the TPS and ordered a new CTS (the one on it looks clean, as if it might have been changed before).

CTS is easy to check, just unplug it and check resistance cold, then at temp.

Alright, so I just changed the CTS, and it’s still having the same issue. Except now, it takes even more attempts to start than ever before, and when I did get her started and was driving down the road, she hesitated several times and then cut-off.

super frustrating.
