Cargo cover repair -Loyale

Featured Replies

Recently purchased a 92' Loyale wagon and love it. The cargo cover has released from spring(?) and is no longer able to wind up. I've tried to search archives but the only links I've found were dead. Help! Suggestions would be greatly appreciated-

You would need all the little mounting pieces as well.. I don't think the loyale has them. You would also need to cut some holes for the mounting pieces to go.

BTW Goat.. did you ever get my PM about wheels and tires and such.. did it answer any of your questions?

So know one knows how to repair a cargo cover? I've started to tear it apart myself and when/if I fix it I'll post how I did it. If anyone has any ideas please feel free to help-Thanks

Tried fixing mine that recently broke on me. Ended up swearing at it and throwing it in the garbage :)

Good luck!

come to san jose and just take one of mine;) if nothing else you would have a known good one to work with. I need the space in the garage so its yours if you want it.

It's really easy. Take off the end caps. I used a nail to punch the pins out.Roll it up and throw a rubber band on it. Take some vise grips and twist the spring up nice and snug, don't twist it so much that it breaks the spring. Now with the tension on, have someone hold the vise grips while you put the opposite end cap back on. Once the pin is back in the end cap, you can release the vise grips. Voila!

Oh well! Thanks for the info however :) Maybe I'll fix one from a junkyard hehe.

yes, i got your message thank you very much for the info.

If you want to have it done professionally, try a window treatment workshop, or commercial interior supplier.

It is essentially the same as a wind up blind. These are repairable, and there are places that service these routinely.

good luck, John

I've fixed a bunch of them over the years. You just push the material out of the way of the end cap and wind it back up.
