Had an interesting thought while looking through a Catalog

Featured Replies

and the thought is?....... Is there a parts crossreference catalog of some type online so we could see what parts from other makes and models will work with our subies? And the catalog that I was looking at is from www.zcarparts.com and they have alot of things that can be used for subies of the gen 1 thru 3 kind. In fact I found the side marker lights I need for my 76 in there and also some good U-joints for my rear halfshafts for the same said car.

soooo any thoughts on this?

Oh yeah and also the reason why behind this thought is cause of if we can find a more popular car that has a restoration/customization aftermarket more so than ours we could use the parts from those said makes/models.

Cross-reference is great, but normally requires lots of research. The only good cross-reference I know of are the books that the junkyard guys have, I’ve always wanted a set of those, I wonder how much they cost.

BTW, I know that site because I have a Z, do you?

nope just ran across it looking through Grassroots motorsports and the catalog sounded tempting cause I know some stuff from datsuns work on my 76 including the halfshafts in the rear you usualy find them on 240z's and some 280z's

one thing I had always wondered about:

some of the axles I've gotten had Dodge Caravan instructions with them, and if they use the same spline count, what do the rest of the componenets look like to see if a swap is possible. could be a cheap way to get to a 5 lug pattern... I know the struts/knuckles have a camber adjustment :)

that would be interesting to see and also some of the stuff I have seen so far in there alot of the rubber stuff will work for our cars and also some of the trick polyurethane stuff too
