theDirtyRue
The 3AT tranny isnt the most impressive thing that Subaru put in their cars. They usually go out around 120K if I remember right. The Turbo's rarely have problems, If anything they can cause problems with the cooling system. Try to feel all the coolant hoses for weakness and such. I've only had manual transmissions so I don't know too much about the auto ones. Someone should clarify for you though. Good luck,
calebz
I have had 2 88 GL-10 turbos.. one was an auto.. Someone around seattle is still rollin that tranny in a different car I believe My 87 GL-10 turbo was also an auto.. that tranny is probably still working as well.. Last time I heard it was. I didn't want it.. did the 5 speed swap
Cougar
I had two turbo GL-10's from that year. One I purchased new and kept for for over 13 years. Neither of them had a problem with the automatic tranny. The biggest problem I know of is with the alternator and head gaskets.
