xt6 engine in gl wagon-possible???

Featured Replies

..curious to know if anyone has ever put a 6 cylinder in a wagon I have an 85 wagon that has a perfect ea-82 but I am curious...

Also out here in western Oregon(you did not hear this from me) the timber companies open their gates for deer season soon, which means a free for all on the dirt and rock logging roads, as long as we are responsible and are out of the woods by sundown and we dont tear up the expensive roads, i think much fun can be had . brief directions; west on hwy 30 take the vernonia cutoff go up the hill and start exploring whichever road strikes your fancy but wear orange (and dont wear antlers)

If you make it all the way up to hwy47 go west and hit hwy 202 for the coast out through the elk reserve. It is a beautiful drive with many interesting 4wheel possibilities. 202 ends in astoria then a blast back up the main hwys into portland

Can't say much on the fitment issue into your vehicle. But I can tell you that you need 17-1/2" from the engine mount hole in the crossmember forward to the crossbar of the radiator support. Actually, you'll need more thatn that, 17-1/2" is the measurement from the mount stud of the mount to the front edge of the crank pulley. So you'll need atleast 18-19", just to make changing the Alt belt abit easier.

I can and has been done, you'll need a greasy shoehorn and a new home for the radiator. :)

P.S. I'd love to build a RX6, but it would have to look factory and I dont know where I would hide rad.

Hey Gary, I might have some interesting, or at least amusing, thoughts on how to deal with the radiator issue. One variation that I have been mulling over even involves a turbo...:brow:

someone a looong time ago on the board had that white RX with an ER27 going into it.....me has to do some searching

^ that guy left before he got done with it, he was swaping over every thing aswell(like interior, dash stuff like that)

Seen it done. Radiator rides nicely in a reclined position in the spare tire well. A moderate scoop feeds enough air to keep it cool.

Witte, did this years ago to his 87 wagon

Put in a custom rad infront of the core support.

He was working on a custom FI system when

he moved out of NM.

He was selling it ??

Thinking big... if you're gonna go H6 why not the EG33 (SVX) or one of the new H6s? :burnout:

Hmm... BIGGER yet... EG33T

Gary

Hey wing where at in Portland are you? and yeah Witte was the originator of that and I think he still has it too and he lives somwhere in Washington now with a STi none the less too lol
