November 10, 200421 yr i was talking to my buddy who is pretty suby swavy and he said that its alot of work to do the swap from an EA82 to the EA82 turbo motor. he said you have to do the hole wiring harness and all that stuff, well i dont know if he said all that but...i just want to check this out and make sure that its is. Thanks, Mike
November 10, 200421 yr Motor, exhaust, cross member, wiring harnes.. Bunch of other little random crap. Not a lot of fun
November 10, 200421 yr well here's the list..i HIGHLY suggest not doing it... Motor COMPLETE engine and dash harness + cpu...don't even try it with a digi gauge turbo fuel pump PS hardlines( yes the power steering lines are different between turbo and NA) cross member and alot of asprin!!!
November 10, 200421 yr It is far easier to find a car that is already turbo'd, there are plenty of EA82T cars out there.
November 10, 200421 yr well as far as electronics go.. you could go the do it yersel route and use a meagquirt for the fuel and ignition but you still have teh crossmembers and such to argue with
November 12, 200421 yr think the wiring is pretty easy, you just have it as a stand alone part. all you have to do is power it, ground it, have it controll a relay for the fuel pump, and hookup the trigger wires on the coil, and connect a wire from the computer to the starter solenoid wire. then the rest plugs in like stock to the engine/intake. thats on the flapper system, i think the hotwiere would be easier, as you wouldnt have to run the trigger wire to the coil. dash and everything plugs in using your stock wiring from the car, even if its an ea81. i love it! it all fits!
November 13, 200421 yr Author thanks for the info guys i know now that i am not going to be doing this swap, and ill just look for a EA82T.
November 13, 200421 yr another thing to consider is that you have to pass DEQ also (damn vultures again)
