Blizzaks

My wife just traded in her '03 Accord for a new Legacy Limited. We took the Bridgestone Blizzaks off of the Honda before trading as they only have a couple thousand miles on them. Here's my question. Can we use the size 205/60-16 Blizzaks on the Subaru which calls for 205/55-16? Not enough difference in size to matter to me. What do you think?

Tire size claculator says that your Blizzak tires will give you a speedometer reading that's 3.2% too slow. For example, at a reading of 60 mph, you will in fact be going at close to 62 mph. I think you will find you can live with that. Moreover the diameter will vary only by .8 inch. I dont think that this will cause any problems.

I don't believe you'll have any problems using those Blizzak's. The only issue & it's not a big deal is the speedo error.

just remember that it will throw your odometer off by that same percentage.

i had the same size on my 91 legacy... worked fine... the speedo does say im going a lil slower... i just figure it helps me with the radar... better to be going slower then faster i guess.... only thing i hate about the blizzaks is that now i need new tires after one year... way to soft for how much i drive my car... best tires in the snow ive ever owned though!!!

for AWD, just be sure the tires match and you are swapping all 4, not just 2.

Thanks, everybody! Yes, there are four of them, all the same size.

Next time you go for snowtires, try the Nokia Hakkiipollitta tires (www.nokian.com). I'm on the third season on mine and it looks like I have one or two more seasons left. And they are still just as effective in the snow as when they were new (I know, what snow). Great rain tires too.

That's the second time I've heard those tires mentioned. I also own BMW's and one of the websites,E60.net had a poster who swore by them. I'll check them out for my 5 series. Thanks.

I had to make that choice recently...

Toyo Observe

Nokian (?don't remember the model)

Blizzaks

Ended up with Michelin's new Ice-X tires (studless snows)... great price at costco & they worked well during a recent ice problem...

Later,

Peter
