did the sol ohm test bad? I had a legacey wgn that all codes said duty sol c was bad, car had torque bind, fuse in didnt help, pinned out trans ecu, trans ecu was bad.

I'd be interested in knowing how you determined that part is bad.

 

i just took the codes..........whether or not that is actually the problem remains to be seen.especially now that the engineer got involved and is showing me that it is inside the case. your an f-in rock star , i love you man....

I’m sure you could ohm test the C-solenoid at the connector on the top of the trans, I don’t know which wire it is but I bet somebody does, if not I could do a little checkin on the old 4EAT I have in the shop.

I didn’t get into rebuilding the clutch packs and such. I was just swaping my 3.9:1 diff on to it (replacing the 4:11) so I could use it in my ’92 Turbo Legacy. I did swap the C-solenoid from my old trans cause the PO thought it might have had a problem, I’m not sure that was the problem. I found that the clip that holds the pressure pipe feeding the transfer clutch wasn’t holding the pipe in firmly and it may have been bleeding off pressure. You can see the clamp and pipe in this pic.

i have the same problem in my 97 obw. i was planning on swaping out the clutch pack, but need to check the ecu/tcm (? i don't the difference or which one to check.) where is the unit located, in the car or on the trans. can i swap one out of another 97 obw to check it. are the units expensive? new or used?

 

i don't really want to pull the trans.

on the 91 legacy wgn the trans ecu was under the left side of the dash. its been awhile but i seem to remember that the trans ecu was supossed to supply voltage to the duty c sol to hold it in 2 wd. I think i found the pinouts somewhere on these boards. good luck jr
