rear window defroster

Featured Replies

The metal clip soldered on the the rear window for the defrost element has come off. Does anyone know how to re-attach the clip to the window. I'm guessing to try re-soldering it, but I'm a little afraid the heat will break the glass. thanks!

Pretty sure they have some kinda repair goop at the auto parts stores for that, though I think it's more designed to repair nicks/opens in the traces themselves, it is what I would try first. maybe somebody else will know more.

i have soldered these back with no problems, get the gun as hot as it will get,put a little new solder on the gun tip and have solder ready when you touch the connection, just a second is all that it needs. ed

Here is one of the big name companies that make a repair kit. Problem with this one is that you pay for the volume amount of adhesive you get. You can get a single application pack a lot cheaper at most any auto parts stores. Napa, advance, they all carry them.
