October 27, 200520 yr is there any cheap or even price free improvements i could do to a 97' outback?? anything including exterior looks Well, it's a weird question. Um - like if you want to accelerate faster, take out as much weight as possible, seats, spare tire, tools. Keep windows rolled up - even in summer the savings in wind resistance at highway sppeds makes up forrtunning the a/c. maybe remove the intake 'snorkus' in the fender. Keep it waxed and clean. Run the lightest weight oil suggested in the manual - and change it on schedule. Keep the plugs gapped properly. Keep a clean intake filter. Use 'touch up' paint on the 'parking lot rash' areas. Use 'wet tire' or similar product on the tires. Maintain proper air pressure in the tires - check at least monthly. Use maybe 5%-10% more pressure than the manual states. dunno what you're really wanting to do

October 27, 200520 yr have a lot of free time. Of course I spent the last two days hanging Xmas lights on a railroad train so I shouldn't talk.
October 27, 200520 yr Well. I did a complete two tone green paint job on my old dirt brown loyale. About $40 for spray paint (john deere green, and forest green), masking tape, sandpaper... Looks really sharp now. Of course, this is a '89, so it was really boring looking before, with a little rust... I can't find a picture of it right now, but maybe I'll post one. I also color coded all the parts of my engine once when I had it apart. Green for vaccuum, light blue for cooling, red for oil, purple for power steering, yellow for electrical.
October 28, 200520 yr - Remove the pinstripe above the lower body color. - Remove the Outback badge from the grille and the AWD stickers in the side windows. - Cover all the metal parts under the hood with light grease or protectant oil. They rust. - Check your tire pressure. - Make sure your headlights and foglights are properly aimed. - Buy the Haynes manual. Read it.
November 2, 200520 yr - Remove the AWD stickers in the side windows. I think those could be a reminder to a person towing the vehicle that it needs to be on a bed and not towed with one axle dragging. Might be a good idea to leave those on.
