ATTN All lifted EJ's

Featured Replies

i don't need an explanation why or why not or anything. just a yes or no.

when you put in your outback/forester struts into your legacy/forester did you lower the engine to straighted the CV joints?

yes or no

'93 Leg wagon, OB struts with stock Legacy springs....No

96 OBS W/99 Forester struts and springs. No, because you can't, unless you get a custom lift made, which would negate the necessity of the forester struts.

I've got a question/partial on-topic threadjack :)

If you stick OB struts in a leggy and you get the extra 1.5" of lift. How much harder is that on your CVs? -counter question- Isn't this basically the factory setup for an OB? Or does the OB come factory with different pumpkin/cradle mounting to allow for the lift?

90 leg, outback struts, and soon outback lift springs...... no. dont need to do it, plus it defeats the purpose of doing a suspension lift...

Two outback lifted legacy's ('90 & '91), no engine spacers, no trashed axles(yet), 30K on one of the lifted cars.

I suppose you could remove the engine spacers on one outback to increase clearence...

nope, just threw the struts in there, alligned the sucker and took off!

1995 legacy brighton. Outback struts, orig springs and caps. NO SPACERS.

Didn't even realize the outbacks had them. Anyone have picture/part# for proof?

Its a 4" AA lift that is just like the other lifts for our older vehicles except has 5 or six extra components, it lowers the engine four inches (so yes we lowered the engine to match the lift). With this lift you have to run outback struts or forrester struts, because the stock legacy struts will not fit larger tires. Either way you lift it you will have to put the struts on it (sorry for the eplanation I put it on here for the newbies). The only difference is the Outbacks/forresters come with a factory 1.5" lift, the legacy's do not. Although you can adjust the camber for the lift so you should have no problems when you put the struts on without a lift. (maybe a little positive camber).

1995 Legacy. Just used Outback struts, and got an alignment, didn't lower the engine.
