    new tires...

I had 215/65/16 Nokian RSIs for winter tires on WRX wheels. These were on a 95 legacy wagon on outback struts. The tires rubbed a little at full lock, and the speedometer was off by about 5mph at 60 mph, but other than that there were no problems.
  2. Did you drive it back like that? It seems like you can't see anything out of more than half of the windshield.
  3. Thanks for posting those videos, those guys must be nuts. Who in their right mind would drive into a lake?
  4. Here are a couple of my Legacy on Outback struts:
  5. I am probobly going since I am planning to be in the Seattle area about that time.
  6. 1995 Legacy. Just used Outback struts, and got an alignment, didn't lower the engine.
  7. This person on nasioc did just that, wrx struts in an outback. Here is the link: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=5328494#post5328494
  8. The link doesn't work. Any more info on this would be appreciated.
  9. I haven't seen much info on the 2000-2004 Legacy being lifted, but there is one thread on NASIOC. The person just lifted the rear since it was botoming out due to a trunkfull of books. It looks like he got about 1.5" from the spring strut combo from the Outback. Here is the link: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=900623
  10. Bump to the top, just in case someone hasn't seen the thread yet.
  11. The 2.2 was available on the 95 Outback in both auto and manual. Although the 95 Outback was the same as a Legacy just had a few cosmetic differences. The 96, first model year of a "real" Outback had a 2.2 on the 5 spd and 2.5 on the auto, starting in 97 it was all 2.5 engines. Go to http://www.cars101.com/ to get more info. You can find almost any stat on Subarus there.
  12. Welcome. Check out the thread on the upcoming Montana meet http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45593.
  13. Those are great photos, looks like you had lots of fun. I am just wondering what kept the Forester from getting stuck, while the big trucks seemed to have trouble. The trucks, with more ground clearance, and bigger tires should have had an advantage. Was this just driver experience, or is there more to it? Also what tires are you on?
  14. Any update on this meet? Any dates? I can go down to Bozeman any day of a weekend except the 24th.
  15. I have FF1000 lights on the front of my Legacy. They do vibrate a little, but it doesn't bother me. The bar they are mounted on is bent up, and over, and attached to the radiator mount. Here is a photo of a car from nasioc with almost the same exact setup that I have: Here is a link to the thread on NASIOC, http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=673117&page=1&pp=25&highlight=ff1000
  16. That last one was from a couple weeks ago, the snow ones were from last Friday. All of this was done on 205/55/16 Potenza RE92's which are supposed to be horrible in the snow, but I didn't get stuck. I have Nokian RSI's in 215/60/16 that I will put on within a month which should make the Legacy even better, and a little taller in the snow.
  17. This is great, we're getting more, and more people willing to come to the meet. A DOG - you should start thinking of a date since winter is coming. I have no problem coming if there is some light snow, only 3 hours away. It seems some people would have a long trip through the mountains which would be pretty bad in snow.
  18. They both look great. Now get some photos off roading
  19. I didn't read the whole article, but I am sure its going to be a great car. It looks like a competitor to the 2005+ Legacy GT.
  20. I would be in. Great Falls is only a 3 hour drive from Bozeman, so thats not too bad. If you are thinking of doing any serious off roading I would have to ride with someone since I don't have a serious off roading rig. Looking at the Frapper map MSSLGECKO is from Bozeman, and HARPUA is in Missoula.
  21. If you are on a budget I suggest you get a 1996-1999 Outback rear sway bar, they are 18mm compared to the L 14mm. I don't think you would need to upgrade your springs, the struts should improve the handling. But if you do want the added stiffness of the springs look around Nasioc http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/search.php?searchid=2966190 There is a lot more info on the performance side of things there. Just remember to search over there since most questions have already been asked. Come back here for the rally & off road stuff.
  22. That is exactly what I did. I bought Outback struts had them installed, then had an alignmet done. The rear camber is a little off, but not too bad. You didn't mention if you had a sedan, or wagon. It worked on my wagon, but I don't know if it will work on a sedan. Search around, there might be someone with a lifted wagon.
