Thats a fair bit, but ive seen worse. A general rule seems to be that if it burns more than 1 litre/1000km the engine is a gonner.

Does it leak, or is it all burnt?

That's about where I'm at as well with 200,000 miles. I think I'm leaking out my front main or oil pump because I'm smelling a lot of oil burning on my exhaust as it drips.:-\ My cam covers are all sealed up and don't leak a drop though. :)

At 190,000 miles, mine loses about a quart every 2000 miles (3000Km?) - I believe all of it is through leaks.

87 gl turbo with 178000 miles gets about 2500 to a quart

97 Impreza with 315,000 miles gets about 1250 to a quart, which I think is pretty good. We picked up the car from a lady who used it to deliver the mail and she was told the engine was knocking and needed a rear main seal so it wasn't worth putting the seal in. she drove it like that for at least 6 months using about a gallon a week, around 1000 mile a week.

Rebuild another 87 turbo wagon and it gets around 4000 to the quart, the car has around 135,000.

Hush

depending on my cars mood it will eat any where from 1qt evrey 1000miles up to 2 or so evrey 500 but my car has issues

 i'm gonna make that into a t shirt:lol:

Subaru says 1 quart every 3,000 miles is within specs.

It leak...but I don't figure how much.

EA82 SPFI with 206k miles. 1 quart every 1200 miles. 50 years ago, a quart every 500 miles wasn't considered that bad for a high mileage engine.

My '86 EA82t with 145k leaks oil, but I haven't had it long enough to know how much yet. The leak appears to be coming from the front seal or the oil pump. I suspect it is the pump though as the valve train is noisy (at least it was last time my car was running...it's dead right now).

From what I can tell very little oil is being burnt (yea!) as I just changed the plugs about 3 weeks ago, and they weren't fouled. Also no smoke out the rear...just a little steam from what I suspect to be a cracked exhaust after the turbo.
