Yup, '89 RX, 120K, everything works, took off the body kit before the extreme rally test (anybody want to buy a complete body kit?), passed with some coolant and oil leeks and some fresh underbody body damage...

 

once I pull the tranny and diff you can have it for cheep. ac works good. cd player, Gen III turbo heads, good turbo, dual core radiator...

Why not offer a trade for the parts that you want and save some labor and time?

You have a running turbo '89 RX, but want to pull the trans and differential to put into another vehicle? What trans does it have - d/r or 4eat? 3.7 or 3.9? What vehicle are they going into?

it should have a fulltime 4wd 5 speed D/R in it.

 

I dont think Rx's came with autos. At least the ones I've looked at in person

The car has a Dual Range AWD Gearbox with locking center diff. ALso, the rear has a limited slip 3.9

 

That tranny and diff combo was only offered in the RX.

yup runs & drives like a raped ape, flies through the air pretty good too.

 

D/R AWD 3.70 center diff lock, rear LSD, all the goodness of 10 forward gears.

 

don't get me wrong the rx 3 door is a cool car, had one all rallied out, wrx IC and 3" straight pipe, full roll cage, tons of fun, but I've had it with the ea82T they are too much work too often, I I'll stay with my ej22's and ea81's thank you.

yup car has great heat, it's waay below zero here currently, rust, well a litle surface rust, if I wanted a 3 door this would get done up right

 

trans and diff are going into my '91 legacy. first one on the block.

when the ambient temp was +4f, the "heater" sent out +4f air

good thing I had my harbor freight 12v "heater" to warm one had at a time

this was the last chance, from now on it's my '81 diesel wabbit pickup /end hijack/

not too shabby. At least it runs compared to when I first got my '89 and mine was also a 4EAT automatic. '89 was the only year you could get an automatic in an RX but it was the 4EAT, not the 3AT.

Yeah I have an 89 RX with 4at. It's great. I'm impressed with the Auto tranny. I had a 3at in my ea81...that was crap. But this tranny is nice. But I would like the FTAWD 5spd with center diff lock.

That's a good car...too bad you don't like them.

Wow if it wasn't so trashed I would have given you a RX trans+diff plus a good chunk of change for it. I'm sure someone will pick it up if the rust isn't too bad though. Have fun with the swap, it is a nice drivetrain!
