the other day a nice Hatch came into my shop the other day for an oil change. It had a carbed EA81, 4 spd D/R trans, and was in great shape. I looked in the door jam and saw the tag said 88 gl. I had no idea they made gl hatches with an ea81, and 4 spd trans that late. It looked like a late 70's model. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is that a rare car?

Subaru sold the Hatchback from 80 to 88.

I had the same model ea81 88 hatch. I will try and post some pictures if i can find any.

I owned a '88 hatch before.Now I own a 86 and they are the same.

Yea its just basically a Brat with a back hatch.

they made the ea81 hatxhes until beginning of 89'

 

i had an 89' ea81 hatch once.. to get parts at the parts store i had to tell them it was an 84..

I had an '88 hatch. it was 2wd, 5 speed, 2bbl hitachi, hitachi disty, hydraulic lifters, and had an O2 sensor and ECU. I hated the stock fuel system.
