Phil and I pulled the heads off sunday.

Passenger's side. We left the engine in the car. No idea how it got that far out of roundness.

I've had that happen multiple times. Thats why these motors are crap. Most likely it was detonation that caused that.

 

This was my first encounter with a blow out like yours:

My last one though, it was even worse. I'll try and remember to find the gasket and take a pic...

Well, the motor is a hybrid SPFI block with turbo heads... so I'm not too surprised this sort of thing happened.

 

looks like the headgasket is blown and when that happens, it'll become way out of round.

Yup, blown headgaskets was the reason for pulling the heads off. Phil and I were hoping to see something cool on the gasket.

 

Are those Subaru Originals, or Aftermarket?

The guy who put the motor together said they're Subaru OEM.

I know the headgaskets that I pulled out of the engine from my RX were OEM since they still had the Fuji symbol on them...
