May 16, 200619 yr could be intake gaskets ,head gasket , i doubt it would be timing gears as this would affect both side,s...check for spark/ fuel then compression..cheers good luck
May 16, 200619 yr The gears are not your problem - does that passenger bank light up at higher RPM? Could be a vacuum leak on the passenger side of the intake manifold. Spray around with carb cleaner to find vac leaks, do a compression test to verify compression, and check for spark and plug condition. GD
May 17, 200619 yr Leaky or failed valve seal (picks back up at higher RPMs), bent pushrod, valve adjustment, head gasket, rings,.. a number of things.. I have a dead bank with my EA81 at idle, but it kicks in above 1500 rpms. A local mechanic seems to think I need a valve job...
