Do the ea82 heads work on the wrong sides? Please Help!!!

Featured Replies

So i know i'm an idiot. I just re-built my first ea82 and when i put it back together i put the left head an the right side and the right head on the left side. The real kicker was i didnt realise it until i had installed it in my car and put everything back together. I found out they were on the wrong side when i went to put the little metal L shaped thing that connects the intake and head.

So my question is...Are the heads interchangable??? can my car run with the heads on the wrong sides??? I rigged a hose from the intake to the head where the L shaped thing goes, so thats fixed. Please HELP!!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!

and I know i'm an idiot.

your cut off. No more working on cars..

J/k

um.. I don't believe so..

As long as the hose you used doesn't melt you should be fine I think. It is for the egr. The heads are the same casting the other head doesn't have the hole drilled and tapped for the tube. If you look there is probably a spot where it could be drilled and tapped. but i wouldn't worry about it the hose should be fine. If not just plug it. As long as everything else bolted up you should be alright.

the shop that rebuilt a set of turbo heads for me told me there the same except for a few plugs.. but the plugs can be swapped.. i assume he is right, havent heard any different.. as long as the disty is on the correct side..

yes.

the EGR thingers should be part of some pieces which are attached to the bottom of the heads via the exhaust studs, which means that you should be able to swap the EGR things to their correct sides.

I think you have the ASV (aka AIS) ports for an EA81 confused with the EGR port on the top of the Head of an EA81/EA82. On an EA82 Head the ASV port is casted on the side of the head just above the exhaust port and only EA82s that came a carburetor will have the machine work done to the ports to make them functional.
