What is the BIGGEST and BADDEST motor that Subaru makes ?

I need to know what type of cars they are in, and what years to look for. I have another brat coming to me, and i want to make a huge toy to play with.

so we have

1 Years

2 SIze of motor

3 Turbo ? Twin Turbo ? SuperCharged ?

4 Make and model of the car they are in ???

5 Is it available in 4wd, 2wd, or AWD

I will leave it all to you guys and gals to decide what to pu in this brat, it is a second gen though, so i have more room.

These were aparently used in F1 or Indy or something like that. You probably won't be able to find one.

Seriously, though, probably the best thing you could do is get the engine and tranny out of a WRX and swap it in. In case you didn't know, they are a 2 liter turbo and only come with AWD. I have heard it's an easy swap into the late 80s gen wagons, but I don't know about your brat.

If you could do it, you would have a 227 hp engine in stock form, which can easily be modified to produce way more.

Go to funonwheels.net to see pics of a wagon with that engine and tranny in it. I like the pic where it's jumping about six feet in the air.

yeah ok, would love to have that one, but i mean streetable ones, LOL Ok i dont think i would be able to take that through the inspector and get away with it.....

First option is the new domestic STI 2.5 turbo. 305Hp off the shelf and 400 does not take much effort to reach. Also the new 6spd is a work of art.

Next to that, I would go with the EJ25 N/A, turboed of course. I have 118,000 on my EJ25 in my Impreza at 300 plus with no problems.

I think I have one or two of these out in my shed. I'll rumage through the various SVX and WRX engines and get back to you with pricing and shipping info. :D

you guys must not have traveled through casper at all!! i say this because the beefiest, scariest, most growlin'-est, 1.8 liters of fuel injected fury is found in my 88gl wagon. i bought my ENTIRE car for like a tenth the price of a baddass engine. either way you go, i'm glad it's a soobie!!:burnout:

The largest production engine subaru made was the EG33 which is a 3.3 liter H6 that came in the SVX. They only came with automatic trannies, so if you want a manual, look for a wrecked SVX and a wrecked Legacy 5spd.

If you want the most bang for your buck, go with the EJ20TT or the EJ25T.

EG33 stock= 230hp

EJ20T stock= 230hp

EJ25T stock= 300hp

EJ20TT stock= 270hp

Your better off getting the 4cyl, as the 6 wont even fit in a EA82 bay without serious modification.

Being a first-gen Legacy owner, I'm a little partial :brow:...

But my vote is for the EJ22T. I would say this is Subaru's most durable street engine yet. More than one person consistently runs 20 lbs boost on a stock engine with over 180,000 miles on it. In fact some have swapped EJ25 DOHC heads onto an EJ22T block, therefore decreasing their CR and enabling higher revs. One guy who has done this runs 30 lbs on his EJ22T everyday, and has for 30,000 miles.

Of course, this is with proper tuning... so keep that in mind...

WOW someone else who lives in Casper, i use to live there when i was a kid and still have relatives there. Anyhow , it seems that the ej22t is my best bet, so what do they come in ? and junkie, if i have my way i will make that 6cyl fit in a brat, but it seemed kind of low on the power output. so i think i would like to stick with the boxer motor like i have now, so i think the ej22t would be a great option, just let me know what cars they come in and i will get started. lol

They came in the 91-94 Legacy turbo, these guys:
