Dual Range tranny?

Featured Replies

what cars have the dual range transmission?4 or 5 speed?Im looking at a 1994 4x4 loyale with a 5 speed.is that a 5 speed DR?

There is 4sp d/r and 5sp d/r.You will want a 5sp d/r out of a 85-89 GL wagon. Will bolt right up to your engine, but you will need to cut the floor where the trans will come through a little, but nothing major.

The one you are looking at is definately a push button 4x4.

if it has 5 forward gears, and has 2 gear shift levers, its a dual range tranny. if you get a D/R tranny from a turbo car, the low range is like 1.20:1 whereas the N/A dual range is 1.59:1 or something along those lines.

90+ do not have Dual Ranges in them. If you want to put a dual range in, any from 85-89 non-turbo would drop right in.

I didnt even need to cut a hole in my 91 loyale it was already there, just covered up by a plate. Maybe just buy an 85-89 gl wagon and save yourself the trouble. They are cheaper too. Fuel injection is nice though.

I had one installed in my 93 Loyale wagon. You have to cut out a hole for the transfer lever but it`s really easy. Also, try to get the mounting plates that hold down the console from the donor car. It makes things easier.
