so i love my Subaru's and my wife has slowly caught the Subaru fever! now she wants to ditch her kia and get a Subaru. however my new school knowledge is poor at best so my question is what do you feel is the best model 93 or newer and what should i look out for? sedan, wagon, coup, she is open to it all.

95 leg sedan 2.2L awd. get the wagon if she needs more room.

 

my opinion, you gain nothing going with the 2.5L since they are geared differently. it doesn't sound like you / she will need the higher ground clearence. the automatic gives you computer controled AWD.

 

and the 95 2.2L is bullet proof, a non-interferrence engine.

96 would be my second choice.

I am on my 11th Subaru, 3rd new generation.

2.2 is the best motor Subaru has ever built. You will love working on the single timing belt if you are old school!

90-96 Legacy are basically the same, but 96 auto obw get the 2.5 which can have headgasket issues. 97 up 2.2 are interference motors.

Sedan/Wagon is really a preference of taste, I like wagons because I can haul all my bikes, snowboards etc.

And once you seal the oil pumps it lasts for 100k instead of 6 months!

Budget? How much does she drive? Need a wagon, or sedan?

budget has a fair range no more than 3K. she does a mix of around town and highway. as far as sedan or wagon she does not car...but...she would like to have more leg room in the back seat. so im not sure witch one has better leg room for the rear passengers. any thought on this?

There is not difference between sedan or wagon in leg room.

Definitly, i have a 93 legacy and it kicks rump roast. high millage, and doesnt leak nor burn oil. All i have done is change the oil and timing belt. Amazing car. ANd it flies!! And super quiet and smooth.

Well. In that part. I have enough room in the back. But if ur wife isn't tall, she could probably move up the front seat a little bit, and there is plenty.

The spare tire cover on the wagons has hinges and is secured to the floor rather than just a loose piece of plastic. The intermittent wipers intervals can be adjusted rather then one setting.

And this car has never broken down, whether it was 2 feet off snow in -40 or 39C plus in a flood, she kept going. Never seen a tow truck and never will!! the 2.2l engine will live forever!

That sucks. I like those indicator's for each door though. It very good to know which one is open especially for people with kids.

My '97 OBW definitely has the separate door/hatch indicators... and I could be wrong, but I swear my wife's '00 OBW has 'em, too.
