subarubrat
These crappy bands are no comparison to the OEM type with the catches and compression fit. The smooth metal offers no grip for tightening and none for holding. What use are these pieces of S***. Anyone know of a source for OEM type bands? subarubrat
I have lots of new boots, I just need the clamps.
Tom63050
Hi Scott, Tom upstairs. I used a hose clamp, the good kind with the worm gear, on my Toyota boot as an emergency fix. Still on there 10K miles later and works fine.
Guest taprackready
I recently used a very large zip tie on my vw rabbit CV boot and its holding up so far with about a months worth of driving. It was easier to install than the metal bands. Bill
Snowman
ditto on zip-tie
soobme
If U get one of those tools to tighten them, and some GOOD quality zip-tyes(3/8" wide if U can find them) they work great!
subarubrat
Oh that's the real insult to injury, every auto parts store here has the OEM boot band tool ONLY, and they all sell the POS smooth bands ONLLY.

TomRhere
Have to dig around out in the garage to be sure. But I do believe I have some of the ribbed/slotted type clamps. How many do you need, large/small?
subarubrat
4 large, and of course I am interested in a retailer if anyone knows of one.
bratman2
I'll second the 3/8-inch wide ty wraps. I use super thick ones from work, borrowed from the local electrical-instrumentation shop, and that last longer than the boots. Glenn Taylor.
