I'm replacing the AM/FM radio in my newly acquired '94 Loyale with a new head unit and bought the aftermarket dash kit, which has faceplates for a number of models. Naturally, I used the faceplate for my car (Faceplate D, according to the instructions) and can't bring myself to trash the leftovers, so here's what I'm proposing...

 

If you're interested in one of the faceplates below, send me $5.00 by PayPal to cover shipping and I'll send the faceplate, associated hardware and a photocopy of the instructions to you. First come, first served. I paid $25, so I'm not trying to gouge anyone here. It's just that it offends my sensibilities to throw out something new that can be used by someone else. Here is what I have available:

 

Faceplate A - Justy 1987-94

Faceplate B - Legacy 1990-94

Faceplate C - Brat 1982-87, DL/GL (sedan/wagon/hatchback) 1981-85

and given the nature of this post, I'm going to weigh in now that I think its a bit more appropriate here than in the for sale forum. Im normally all in the interests of proper classification, but as he said he isnt trying to make a profit so much as hook three people up.

I would like to see what the difference is on faceplate C from faceplate D. I've always used the EA82 adaptors in the EA81's as that's all I've ever found....

 

Sadly being you are in Canada, I think shipping might be more than just $5, but if not, I would take C.

Daeron, I went to Future Shop, asked for the dash kit for a 94 Loyale and this is what they handed me. I thought it was pretty cool. Do you think I paid too much?

 

BTW, I cut the wiring harness off of the factory Clarion AM/FM radio that I was replacing and used it because I couldn't find an aftermarket harness in any of my usual haunts around town. Not a single wiring diagram that I found on the Web matched what was actually in the car; therefore, I had to bash them all together and come up with my own, which worked quite well, oddly enough. Now that it's wired up properly and the dash kit is installed with a proper DIN shaft, it looks like there's something in the back of the cavity that's preventing me from sliding the stereo all the way in (trip odometer cables, perhaps?). This looks like my first bit of education into becoming an older generation Subaru owner.

 

I'll let you know how it turns out.

One other thing, and Daeron hit the nail on the head... I was a bit torn as to where I should post this offer. I was trying to be magnanimous, hence I though that this forum would be appropriate, but it also kind of borders on trade. Naw - that's about the going rate. Around here I think I can get *just* the EA82 faceplates for like $15... (I never have to buy them though as I always seem to have a couple extra from the junk yards and parts cars) but that's US dollars too, so I think you did fine considering you have all those other ones too.

 

Interesting tidbit - my best friend worked at Future Shop back in the day - then got a HUGE settlement when they left the US due to not obeying US tax and labor laws. I remember them being all over the place down here, and then all of a sudden all of them were gone! But we have things like Fry's electronics so no worries.

I paid 30 bux to crutchfield for a stere mounting kit that would allow me to fit a DIN stereo into my dashboard, and still keep my trip computer located next to the stereo where it is stock. Fortunately, that kit is also going to allow me to install the cupholder out of a toyota camry at the same time....

Fry's is an experience unto itself. They have it all. More electronics and components than Radio Shack ever thought of, and everything from office furniture to refrigerators to every electronics known to man. The place is amazing really. It's a fixture in california, and each store has a "theme" like outer space or ancient egypt. Most customers absolutely abhor the company, and their time spent at the store, but we continue to shop there out of pure spite I suppose.

I know exactly what kit you bought....I didn't even know you could still get that assortment. i bought mine back in the day for an EA-82 and I used the EA-81 part to hook a friend up.

I purchased my kit from the local Car Toys. I have the Metra 99-8900 kit.

 

I used the faceplate for my 88 Wagon. The faceplate I used is for the EA82 cars (faceplate #1). The faceplate for the EA81 is available (Faceplate #2 includes the 82-87 Brat, 81-84 DL and 81-84 GL). Finally the faceplate for the Justy is available (Faceplate #4 w/mounting brackets) The faceplate #s are found in the instruction manual: http://www.metraonline.com/downloads/pdf/TurboKits/INST99-8900.pdf

however BEWARE

The kit will NOT fit a din radio into cars like mine (1982 hatch). I had to really rig the kit to make it fit I used wooded stakes cut for washers in the back. I did however use the faceplate meant for later model subarus. anyway here is a pic of the result
