October 10, 200619 yr We have a 2005 Outback wagon 2.5 XT. Problem seems to have started yesterday. Driving in 3rd 4th or 5th gear (manual trans) if you accelerate when at ~40 mph the car acts like its not in gear. That is the rpm's increase but the speed doesn't. It just revs. Car only has ~13,500 miles on it any thoughts???? It does not have a dealer warrantee. Thanks in advance.

October 10, 200619 yr Sounds like clutch, but seems maybe odd it only happens under those conditions. Guessing it is a salvage vehicle hence no warranty.
October 11, 200619 yr Author Sounds like clutch, but seems maybe odd it only happens under those conditions. Guessing it is a salvage vehicle hence no warranty. Yup, Salvage. Bought with 2600 miles from a trusted dealer who, I hope will take care of this. Is it an adjustment or does it mean a new clutch??
