Removing Oil Pump, EA81

Featured Replies

Need advice on how to do this. I got all four bolts off but the thing is Very stuck. I can rotate it, but it refuses to come stright off. What methods have you all tried?

actully i just did my first 1 yesterday on my 83. i had a little trouble getting that last bolt up on top. but anyways all i did was grab the filter and pulled back and forward with pressure out. im sure u tried this so im thinking use something else on the other side for leverage. good luck.

DON'T pry on it. You will break it. If you must pry apply a *very* slight force while twisting.

Work it back and forth and pull at the same time. It's a lot easier from under the car. Just keep working it and it will come off.

Too little, too late... Hopefully the one off my 1600 donor engine will mate up. Thanks for the help guys!

1.6 one doesnt fit the 1.8.

Use the filter as a handle to pull on it with. Ive broken 4 of these in the car and alot more off the car tearing down engines. Don't sweat it.

A new one shouldnt be more than 100 and its good piece of mind.

Discount import parts here in portland has them for around $65 - Parut too which is the OEM for Subaru.

As shawn says - 1600 is definately different, and will not fit.
