October 28, 200619 yr Just like the title states. Would a catback exhaust from an EA82T car bolt to the y-pipe of a NA EA82? I got a better flowing EA82T catback exhaust to replace the exhaust on my new coupe.
October 28, 200619 yr you will, WILL lose allot of torque if you put an exhaust ment for a turbo on an na they need a certian amount of back pressure
October 28, 200619 yr you will, WILL lose allot of torque if you put an exhaust ment for a turbo on an na they need a certian amount of back pressure All the back-pressure you need is in the y-pipe. He asked about the rear section of the exhaust. You can go as large as you want behind the cross-over. GD
October 28, 200619 yr Author All the back-pressure you need is in the y-pipe. He asked about the rear section of the exhaust. You can go as large as you want behind the cross-over. GD Yup, but do they bolt up to one another or are they different? Shut up Jeff:-p
October 29, 200619 yr I haven't personally done it, but if I know Subaru, it should bolt up with no modifications. The Y-pipe from my EJ22 bolted right up to the rest of the EA82 exhaust! As far as backpressure is concerned, GD is right. That cat in the Y-pipe is all the backpressure you need, especially if you have ANY sort of muffler behind it.
October 29, 200619 yr Author yeah I got a melon shooter on the very end of it. I figured it was probably going to bolt up, just being lazy so I'm not rolling around on the cold ground for nothing

GD i dissagree i have a 2.5 y pipe back on my xt-6 it's almost to big i lost allot of torque, just my experance your may differ, just an oppinion
October 29, 200619 yr Author well this is a stock EA82T catback with a large melon shooter on the end of it. Should be fine I would guess...
October 29, 200619 yr Author Looked at it compared to my EA82T catback and looks to be the same, or close to it...
October 29, 200619 yr Looked at it compared to my EA82T catback and looks to be the same, or close to it... It should be. I grabbed everything from the y-pipe back off of my 87 NA wagon and it bolted right up to my 89 turbo wagon.
October 30, 200619 yr Yes, it will. Jeff... "a lot" is two.....count them... TWO WORDS and "lot" is spelled with one "l" As far as your car losing torque with the bigger exhaust, what it might have lost in torque, it made up for in top end... so stop complaining.
October 31, 200619 yr Author i swear it didn't gain top end, but i AM crazy There, I fixed it for you Jeff;)
November 1, 200619 yr Right...because jeffs car would have to be on the road for him to test his theroy..... how much torque did you gain when your car sounded like a hoover jeff? I <3 jeff
