going from single to D/R

Featured Replies

ok i dont know if i should be putting this in transplants or what, but im putting a d/r into my brat that was "supposed" to have it (had the shifter linkage but not attached to anything) but any ways, im going to be putting the d/r anything i should be watching out for, pointers, tips and tricks? i just dont want to mess up my baby, shes like a girlfriend that i never have to call but i can always get in her and go for a spin. ;)

should bolt right in. easier than my auto to D/R conversion i would suspect. but i dont know much about ea81s

is there any difference between x-memebers?

is there any difference between x-memebers?

As far as I know there is only a difference between auto and manual x members

The two trannies are IDENTICAL. Clear enough?

Only difference is that one doesn't have the low range, but that's all self-contained in the tranny itself. You don't have to worry about it.

thanks GD for being clear. ill be working on it sat and ill ask here if i run into any problems

you are going to need the DR lever linkage but it will bolt right in

He's using the 4 speed D/R, and the 4 speed's had the same lever for single range and dual range. The push-button single range was an EA82 thing.

the lever is the same but the linkage is different

this is so simple... don't worry about it! If you put the transmissions next to each other, the only way to tell them apart would be by the dirt patterns. Take out the single range and put in the dual range, it'll be just like putting the singlerange back in.
