ea81 front end swap

Featured Replies

hi, is it possible to put either a single square or single round front end on

an ea81 with quad squares?

anyone here done it? a few details/comments on it would be great.

is the core support the same?

are the fenders the same?

what all else is needed?

I know the fenders are the same. And I know the metal behind the light is different. I think the mounting points are the same, but I thing there is some metal in the way behind the light.. Not 100% sure, but I'd say it would be possible with little work. You also have wiring you need to deal with.

yeah, do a search for headlight swap, keep an eye out for Monstaru's thread.

Core supports are different, you'll have to cut some. I had a full single square/cyclops setup for my last EA81 wagon, but after realizing I was going to have to cut the core support I got lazy and sold it.

cutting/clearancing isnt a problem as long as all the correct tabs are there.

Bumper is different too I think...I know an 83 Leone I looked at with quad lights had the indicators in the bumper itself, while my single-light has the indicators next to the headlight. I guess you could leave the indicators in the bumpers and have two sets working

I also recall - and this isn't specific to the question asked - that the early metal bumpers use a slightly different method of attachment to the fender sheetmetal than the later plastic bumpers (I retrofitted from plastic to metal).

Dean.
