June 17, 200718 yr My 96 Legacy Sedan has 14" rims. I have the opportunity to buy some 15" alloy rims that came of a 1997 Subaru Outback. These should bolt on without any problems, right? Second question, what is a good size tire to go on the 15" rim that won't screw up with the speedometer too much? Thanks. T/C P.S. I used the search function but didn't find the exact response I was needing.
June 17, 200718 yr first question - yes second question - please do a search on Google for "Tire size calculator" Many many sites will give you the plus 1 diameters and the speedo error. http://www.tirerack.com has one I believe

June 17, 200718 yr did the same for my '91 now running 205,55 on 15" instead of 185,65 on 14" no problems at all
June 17, 200718 yr Author I really like these rims...or I should say, I like the way they look on a Subaru Legacy GT wagon. Do you think these would look too awkward on a Subrau Legacy L sedan? I used the tire conversion calculator and there doesn't seem to be a huge percentage difference in the diameter. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBARU-LEGACY-OEM-STOCK-RIMS-W-FALKEN-TIRES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ66483QQihZ005QQitemZ150133217777QQrdZ1 They're pretty spendy considering they're not in perfect condition. But when you consider they already have an almost new set of tires already mounted and balanced, not too bad. T/C
June 18, 200718 yr A little late, but this should have come up in your search since I've posted it here before. Still works for me. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
June 18, 200718 yr The link Ed posted is a great one. BTW 205/55r16 is what subaru put on the GT's from the factory. And IIRC it was 195/60r15's stock.
June 18, 200718 yr Author Thanks Ed! That's the one I ended up using. I have it bookmarked on my favorites. T/C
