Question re: 15" rims for a 96 Legacy

Featured Replies

My 96 Legacy Sedan has 14" rims. I have the opportunity to buy some 15" alloy rims that came of a 1997 Subaru Outback. These should bolt on without any problems, right?

Second question, what is a good size tire to go on the 15" rim that won't screw up with the speedometer too much?

Thanks.

P.S. I used the search function but didn't find the exact response I was needing.

first question - yes

second question - please do a search on Google for

"Tire size calculator"

Many many sites will give you the plus 1 diameters

and the speedo error.

http://www.tirerack.com

has one I believe

Thanks Skip!

did the same for my '91 now running 205,55 on 15" instead of 185,65 on 14" no problems at all

I really like these rims...or I should say, I like the way they look on a Subaru Legacy GT wagon. Do you think these would look too awkward on a Subrau Legacy L sedan? I used the tire conversion calculator and there doesn't seem to be a huge percentage difference in the diameter.

They're pretty spendy considering they're not in perfect condition. But when you consider they already have an almost new set of tires already mounted and balanced, not too bad.

The link Ed posted is a great one.

BTW 205/55r16 is what subaru put on the GT's from the factory. And IIRC it was 195/60r15's stock.
