June 22, 200718 yr 1981 GL Wagon with 1.8L D/R gearbox I don't have any pictars of the interior yet, but it's pretty worn.
June 22, 200718 yr Nice find! As soon as you get her smogged and registered its time for a lift and pug tires. It's got a 3rd eye and A/C! wow it's loaded! Hope to see ya up in the mountain trails sometime.
June 22, 200718 yr Thats a great looking little wagon! You will really love how durable that car is and decent gas mileage you can't beat the whole deal.
June 22, 200718 yr Nice. Almost the same as my '82 wagon. Except mine doesn't have the bull bar on the front. Is the trailer hitch just attached to the bumper, or does it go back to the subframe in the back? Z
June 22, 200718 yr Author The hitch bolts through the bumper to the frame, so I won't yank the bumper off when i'm out there pulling my buddies out of the sand EDIT: I found out it needs a new CV, head gaskets, a few new hoses, and some minor wiring cleanup, and a new set of tires(they're all pretty bald). should be on the road in a week or so!

Hope to see ya up in the mountain trails sometime. What what? I thought A/C and the third eye didn't mix because of the condenser in front of the radiator. I guess I am wrong... Anyone confirm this? anyone? Bueller? BTW, great find, looks to be in fine condition and should be a keeper. r/ PK
June 23, 200718 yr Author yes, I'm finding out that this is a rare little gem. 1.8 dual range, 5spd, AC, third eye spot. I really want a lift on this as well as some big tires and 15'' wheels as well as some off-road lights and a winch on the front bar. was also thinking about a weber and an electric supercharger... But I have to get her running first:-\ Already working on getting the motor out to repalce head gaskets and timing belts.
June 23, 200718 yr She's a beaut! Nate but you are going to get some comments on this statement "working on getting the motor out to repalce head gaskets and timing belts" That is going to a TAll order for the parts person.
June 23, 200718 yr Author That is going to a TAll order for the parts person. Auto Zone has em. going today hopefully to pick up the "how to fix" book and the parts
June 23, 200718 yr If Autozone has timing belts for an EA81 well, okay. Good luck replacing them. You can down load HTKSA. You might want to read the chapter on engines.
June 24, 200718 yr again. Thanks Cuda, you are as they say Da'man Nate. real nice score please do some reading. There are no t-belts on an EA81.
June 24, 200718 yr Author LOLZ no timing belts on EA81... mustve been a ea82 motor i was looking at. this is my first subaru motor, i've rebuilt chevy 350 motors, but theyre quite a bit different than these little guys
June 24, 200718 yr What what? I thought A/C and the third eye didn't mix because of the condenser in front of the radiator. I guess I am wrong... Anyone confirm this? anyone? Bueller? BTW, great find, looks to be in fine condition and should be a keeper. r/ PK My 82 has a 3rd eye and A/C.
June 24, 200718 yr Author yup, I'm definetly going to have to fix my A/C with the harsh summers here in the California desert
June 24, 200718 yr help me out here...didn't those cars come complete with rust from the factory? j/k looks like a good find for the both of you...enjoy
