July 4, 200718 yr Is this possible and what car could I transplant off if so? Mine is 4WD, hitachi carb, with A/C. Steve
July 4, 200718 yr Find an ea81 wagon w/ power steering. You'll need the engine crossmember, all the lines, pump and brackets. And the steering linkage that connects to the column.
July 4, 200718 yr My 86 brat has power steering and its makes a BIG time difference!!!!!!!!!! You will be 100% satisfied......
July 5, 200718 yr Any EA81 with power steering actually. Just not the Turbo's. GD Who said anything about a Turbo:grin:
July 6, 200718 yr how does the cross-member differ? is it not just a couple holes to mount the steering rack to? I'm really wanting to throw a power steering setup in my Brat once it's running (first things first), and it really looked pretty simple...pull parts (rack, pump, brackets for pump, hoses), but I never considered the whole crossmember has to go.....dang. ~Erik~
July 6, 200718 yr I've read that the rack mounts different. Never confermed it. But I see it beeter to bring up all possiblities,
July 6, 200718 yr The rack does mount differently, as the power rack is larger. There's extra holes, and hard lines running in and on the cross-member, and the skid plate mount is removable for installation of the rack as it would be impossible otherwise. On the non-power crossmembers the entire cross-member must be removed and the rack slid out from one side. This is both not possible due to the dimensions of the power rack, and not desireable from a service point of view. GD
