Rx is dead............ :(

Featured Replies

Well, I think my RX has bit the bullet. I checked her over and then took her out today, she was running great. Got in a little highway time too, still zero problems. As I'm backing her into her parking spot for the night, I notice some white smoke coming from under the hood. Kill the engine, pop the hood, can't really figure where it's coming from but seems it could be near the turbo. Smells of coolant, but don't see any drippage. Check the temperature again, she's not anywhere near to overheating, odd.....Go to fire her back up and that lasted, oh, less than three seconds; she SHOT white smokiness straight out all over the engine compartment, AND out the exhaust. Crazy noises accompanied for that brief moment.

Head gasket? Or something far worse? Opinions welcome. Now, after that, there is a little bit of puddling of coolant, either side of the block but worse on the turbo side.

You may be better off taking that engine out and doing a complete reseal. Head gaskets valve covers, seals the whole works. Let us other coloradoans know if you come down to wanting to sell it. I for one would love to find an rx to throw an ej22t into. Good luck with solving the coolant issue.

Sounds mostly like a head gasket issue.

Could also be simply the intake mani gaskets.

Its a little troubling that you see it out your exhaust and in the engine compartment.

almost sounds like when the coolant hose for my turbo popped, might want to start there first then possibly check the turbo over.

Yes, the Coolant Hose... The Tiny one (5/8") that goes from the Water Pump to the Heather... It might be the Cause.

Good Luck! :burnout:

Intake manifold gasket...it was hard to find on Rocky but see your other thread and it tells how to get it running enough to look for it..look on the bottom of the stack where it bolts to the head..
