November 8, 200718 yr I bought a set of Jackman wheels a while back with the intention of putting them on the Brat. However, they were a bit rauchy; extremely rusted and pitted. I sent them out to a shop in Mukilteo for sand-blasting and powder coating. I was quite pleased with the job. Here's what they look like now:
November 8, 200718 yr Looks great, powder coating can really make something kinda nice into something really nice.
November 8, 200718 yr Yeah looks great!! One word of advice. Give them a good hand waxing and really rub it in and nothing will stick to them Mud/Snow ect.. Plus is will make them sooo shiny:grin:

November 8, 200718 yr i was thinking about doing that to a set of regular spoked wheels. how much did that pout oyu in the hole. Rob:cool:
November 8, 200718 yr I would too! My Wal-mart paint is chiping off:lol: I think it costs a pretty penny. Like a few hundred $$. I was thinking, If you repainted the wheels again and then after its dry add clear coat! Would that be dumb?

Would that be dumb? i'd probably quit monkeying around with clear coating your wheels and waxing your headlights, and get that timing belt/oil pump job done. and start saving for that manual tranny.
November 8, 200718 yr I know!! Don't you thinkmi want to get the Oil pump and t-belts done!! But good ole dad thinks its alot a work. (Which it's not) He has no motovation!! I hope the blets don't go anytime soon.. I don't drive it alot anyway. But i just want ot do it soooo bad!!!!!!!!!!
November 8, 200718 yr Oil pumps and manual trannies are no good if your rims arent shiney! (btw I did spell shiny wrong on purpose)
November 8, 200718 yr Alright i'm going to bed, It's 3:07am. I don't stay up way later but my eyes are starting to roll around. lol
November 8, 200718 yr Tom, If it ain't that big of a job then tackle it yourself ey? Don't reckon it'd take ya more than a few hours on a Saturday...

I was thinking, If you repainted the wheels again and then after its dry add clear coat! Would that be dumb? It's not cheap, but it lasts for years. I powder coated the wheels on my son's first Brat over 10 years ago and they still look good (after I clean them:rolleyes: ). As to the price, it was $25 per wheel to sandblast, $25 per wheel to powder coat, and $20 per wheel to add the clear powder coat on top of that. ---ed---
November 8, 200718 yr Tom,If it ain't that big of a job then tackle it yourself ey? Don't reckon it'd take ya more than a few hours on a Saturday... I would bu i'd like to have my dad there the first time. Plus the garage is a mess.... I'll get it done before winter.....
November 8, 200718 yr Oil pumps and manual trannies are no good if your rims arent shiney! Wax on the headlights is equally important!

Heck, I'm pulling the motor to do a clutch right now, and I have a broken hand.(Its going slow, but I have some help also) And what does thinkmi mean? Is that spanish or something?
November 9, 200718 yr T-belts are easy!! Heck, I'm pulling the motor to do a clutch right now, and I have a broken hand.(Its going slow, but I have some help also) And what does thinkmi mean? Is that spanish or something? Your pulling an engine with a broken hand.. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. You should see my dad sometimes. He just does it anyway. Broken ribs, Major head ak, Nothing really bothers him.. And thinkmi was supossed to be "think I". My fingers are to big sometimes:lol:
November 9, 200718 yr Can't go back to work until its better, another 3 weeks:rolleyes: , but I'm getting paid for it, so I might as well take advantage of the time off and get the car back together. The old dd is gone now. Anyway, I would love to find some spoke wheels. I always liked that look. If the paints peeling, you might want to think about using primer first next time.
November 9, 200718 yr Yeah 3 weeks off, Sounds like a good time to do it.. The paint's not peeling it just flaked off in 1 or 2 places. I might have had a peice of rust that diden't come off when i took a wire brush on a drill to them.. But the rest of the paint is fine? I should have used primer, But it's been on there for one winter so i think it's ok. Thank's for the tip! -Tom
November 9, 200718 yr On my old Brat, way back when, I took as much rust off with a wire wheel, and shot them with primer first. I did put about 4 or 5 coats of white paint on them, but the didnt flake or peel in the 2 years I had the thing.
November 9, 200718 yr Huh, I guess i should have put more paint on them. They still look pretty good for now.

November 9, 200718 yr I know. I was bad.... I primed all the body work! Why dident i prime the wheels?? I can kick my self now. Aaa you learn as you go..
