January 15, 200818 yr I wanna help a guy out, but it's been 7 years or more since I did one and can't accurately remember how and what's all involved. Searched, can't find the write-up. Thanks. EZ
January 15, 200818 yr #1.pay jerry for his kit,it's worth it.......$100 #2good ea82 flywheel,xt6 pressure plate(regular will work, but while your in there type of thing) #3install jerry's kit, install tranny. #4 either get ea81 driveshaft/line modified to fit,or make mounts on tunnel for ea82 driveshaft/line jerry will need to know if there is lift to know aboiut length for shifter shafts.specific enough?not tryin to be a smartass..... give me a call if you have specific questions.

Thanks, #2 is what I was after. 2 or 4wd xt6 plate? which clutch? I'm partial to the ea82 console swap. Looks nice and natural. But I'll give the guy both options and let him decide.
January 15, 200818 yr Author jerry will need to know if there is lift to know aboiut length for shifter shafts. You mean to say that they would be longer or something if the car was lifted?
January 15, 200818 yr The first is here and the notes of interest are here. Is that what you wanted? Or did I just completely crap out?
January 15, 200818 yr there is a slight difference in length, smart rump roast...... at least as per jerry asking me anyway... and it is 4wd both iirc.......

One can use the original flywheel but the EA82 is better. However, the flywheel bolts used with the original flywheel are a slightly smaller size. Most people don't feel the potential for a small amount of "slop" around the bolts is a problem, but I'm a bit anal. I went to the local hardware store and bought about a foot of brass or aluminum thinwall tubing (somehow I remember 13/64" as the size but don't hold me to that) and cut 1/2" lengths of it and put them on each bolt and that reduced the "slop" to so small that even I didn't care. I went searching for my post on that, but couldn't find it; it was probably on the old EZ board. As to the driveshaft differences, go with a custom single driveshaft. A decent driveshop will charge you less than $100 for one. I started out using the original two piece 'shaft from the donor car but was concerned about the center carrier bearing since it was in an area of minor rust on my Brat. I got a one piece shaft through Jerry and it feels much better. And no worries about the center carrier falling off. The other advantage to the custom shaft is you can get zerks fittings mounted the the u-joints. Last item is that the exhaust pipe support in the center no longer lines up with the 5 speed transmission. As a result the exhaust pipe resonates significantly at around 3000 rpm (cruising speed on the highway for many of us). Fab up a firm attachment for the center of the exhaust pipe to eliminate the resonance completely.
January 16, 200818 yr If you use the 5 speed gear linkage, with the 4 speed 4WD shifter, it's just a single cut, and add 1" of length to the 4 speed rod and it will work just like stock. You can't even tell there's a 5 speed in the vehicle, and it's a LOT less work than fitting the 5 speed console's, which neither fit quite right, nor match the rest of the interior color. At any rate that's my preference. The 85 I got from you (still have it!) got the 5 speed last year and still looks bone stock inside. Love the EA82 gear shifter! GD
January 16, 200818 yr Author I didn't uz it was all gooey, so I used the one from the OBS I used to have.
