April 15, 200817 yr okay i broke out the multimeter and found that my headlight/running light/dash light switch is good. my dimmer knob is good. and still no running lights or dash lights.. okay now the center part lights up the 4x4 lights and the defrost and door locks indicators. the blinker indicator lights work. and high beam indicator lights work. just all the needles numbers and tic marks are not working. there is power to the # 6 fuse
April 15, 200817 yr its been ages since i looked at one of these, but isnt there like a illumination amplifier or some such thing that works the lights? nipper
April 15, 200817 yr Author i dont know... its just weird the the running lights work with the switch on top of the steering colomb, the other switch turns the headlights on but nothing else WTF some one have a schematic? i need a layout google wont find me anything useful
April 15, 200817 yr Author i know its usually the first thing, but have you checked the fuses and bulbs? i havent pulled the cluster but come on are all the bulbs gonna be burnt in the dash but not the running lights. ive pulled the kick panel fuses 3 times and took it out looking for fried wires, eveything checks out:confused:
April 15, 200817 yr ohh! I had this problem with the XT once... same thing.. driving lights wouldn't work with the headlights, but the switch on the column made it so...Hmmm... what was it? IIRC, which is a maybe... I think I might have simply pulled a wire out of some connector right above my feet... I have really big feet and that does seem to be a problem sometimes.

April 15, 200817 yr im gonna check again for pulled or fried wires:-\ does your multimeter have a continuity-check function? run it backwards and forwards over the entire circuit. check pdftown.com for your FSM. The diagram you need will be in there if your FSM is on the site.
April 15, 200817 yr Author still nothing.. man this is crazy. im gonna have to start pulling harness:dead:
April 16, 200817 yr still nothing.. man this is crazy. im gonna have to start pulling harness:dead: I may at least be able to offer you a good place in the harness to start checking. This threadhttp://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=85721 is about an issue with fuel injection caused by a corroded crimp splice in the harness. Obviously this is not a FI issue, but there is a common thread. The power wire out to fuses 6 and 7 splits, most likely via one of these crimp splices. Perhaps that is the spot where the corrosion is? Although you said there was voltage to Fuse 6? Perhaps you checked for voltage there, while the *parking* switch was on, backfeeding the circuit? I don't have the correct FSM here to tell you wire and plug color. I'll look for some more potential trouble spots and check back.
April 16, 200817 yr Author the switch was off i got power everytime i turned the lights "on" with the switch but nothing happened:confused:
April 16, 200817 yr the switch was off i got power everytime i turned the lights "on" with the switch but nothing happened:confused: Wait, so you only got power to fuse 6 when you turned the *parking* switch on? Not just with the key on? There should be power to fuse 6 with just the key *on*. All light switches off, there should still be power to fuse 6. Try this. Pull fuse # 4. That is the fuse that powers the *parking* switch. Now see if you get any power at fuse 6 when you hit the *parking* switch?
April 16, 200817 yr Author Did you ever solve the charge/stop/break lights? yep $73 and a lifetime warrenty. my sub woofer sucked the life out of my stock alternator:rolleyes:
