December 30, 200322 yr Check this out,My brat had no oil pressure, checked gauge by grounding wire, gauge worked,Bought a new sending unit, still no pressure, removed oil pump, installed another (used) still no pressure.Removed oil pan found bearing fragments in oil pan.Gave up Found another EA81 with 60+ oil pressure.Install in my brat.Still no oil pressure.Does the gauge work like a resister? If so this explains it.If not I need some advice. This is my first Brat. Thanks Glenn
December 30, 200322 yr The dash gauge is not very acurate, been said here many times. Suggest an aftermarket one.
January 4, 200422 yr Author swapt out the instrument panel.oil pressure is 50+ when cold and close after heated up.
January 4, 200422 yr any kind of oil pressure gauge.. External one you'd mount somewhere inside... Napa's got them for like 21 bucks or something
January 4, 200422 yr Replace with a mechanical one - bit of plumbing that has to be done, but the mechanical guages are much more accurate, and dependable. GD

GD all you have to do is run a few wires dont ya? Shouldnt be to hard.. Theres 3 holes through the firewall that you can run the wires through.. Should take about 20 min to do
January 4, 200422 yr damn... got any advice for putting one in? I think I'm gonna install one cuz I want to know what my real oil pressure is
January 4, 200422 yr Do a search - there was a post a LONG time ago from someone who did just that - might have been Adam, or Subarubrat, or Hassey - one of the guys with a list of mods longer than my arm I think...... could be wrong tho. GD
January 4, 200422 yr Take your time. I hastily installed a cheapo oil pressure gauge in an 84 wagon I had and it always leaked.Maybe have a line made using JIC fittings.
