Please help, no 4WD only FWD??????

Recommended Posts

I actually have the opposite problem. I have a '99 Legacy that has started binding pretty bad during turns in either direction. When I put the fuse in (making it fwd) it turns just fine. Does this mean that the clutch pack in the transaxle is going bad? I've seen differing opinions on how long it is ok to drive like this. The dealer wants $1500 to replace the "roller bearing" in the "rear transmission extension". Has anyone heard of this? He says there are grooves worn in it, I say it's getting stuck in 4wd. Thanks!

Just my two cents, (and all due respects to all on this board which has truly saved my driving ability and thus my life in some very hard economic times,) but sometimes the best and most informative threads I've learned from on this Board have been when everybody gets all free form and it turns into a free-for-all...NOW THAT'S FUN!!!

gotta love the FWD fuse! Been on it for like 8 months now and it's the only thing that's saved me, till I can get a better job etc etc etc.

2000+ miles on my new timing belt and all's well!!!
