December 30, 200817 yr Author Connie, will you be weber swapping the new motor as well? Yup...not going to let that sweet dialed in set up I have go to waste now:)
December 30, 200817 yr Author Congrats!!!! At least you found the problem. Should be all good now! Far from good actually..have to replace the motor...and then the tranny needs replaced too sometime in the future.. Grrrrr We sent the pics to Tom at AWD.inc and he said ..Nope ..garbage..probably caused by oil starvation..I have a new oil pump on it I need to inspect..and the marks were not there when I originally tore it apart Edited December 30, 200817 yr by Bucky92

Grrrrr Yeah but at least you know some of the problem now and with a new temp gauge and now that you know the fan will work, you shouldn't have to worry about any more hang ups!! So at least you're making progress!
December 31, 200817 yr Working gauges are that important then... I would invest in some aftermarket auto gauges, like oil pressure and water temp. Good luck with the new motor. I'm liking my EA81 atm
December 31, 200817 yr Author Greeeaaaattt!! I just love having pics of my ugly fat self posted .... Paybacks!!! ( we fight constantly when together ) I know which leg to kick Sugarplum!! working on getting some sort of gauges going ATM BTW.
January 4, 200917 yr Author New motor is officially in the garage...need to strip parts from the old one to put in the new one..clean it and make it all pretty...and our goal is to be dropping it into the coupe on the weekend of the 24th. Keep your fingers crossed. If this doesnt work ..we are just going to say..screw it..EJ22.
January 4, 200917 yr Author Do you think guys think I should order new valve cover and oil pan gaskets for the new motor.??.I want to swap mine from the old motor over ( slightly better shape) thing is...both motors have a fresh reseal so all gaskets are new.
January 4, 200917 yr Arent valve cover gaskets like 10 bucks for the pair? for that much I would just get new ones, coat them in RTV and let them sit, then install those. And if you cant get them that cheap, I have a a pair for that cheap. -Bill
