Ronald Reagan's 1978 Brat (article by Drive Magazine)

Featured Replies

Just a heads up... The winter 2009 issue of Drive Magazine (by Subaru) has a good article about the Reagan Brat and its restoration :)

Its not up on the website yet, but it says there will be "more pictures" online in the article, so hopefully it will be up soon. Here is a link to the drive magazine website:

I didn't get my drive yet, but as a diehard Republican and a Subie fan, I can't wait to see this. Reagan was the best president in my lifetime.

I contacted the Reagan ranch once and about seeing the BRAT and it's only open to donors and not to the public.

anyone donate to the Ronald Reagan Foundation?

I have tried to see if I could get a friend w/a press pass to get in and take pictures of it, but he didn't respond and life went on.

Nice article and to think I helped with that thing!! My name is mentioned in the write-up!!:banana: I'm now famous! LOL

Todd, you are the man and deserve some serious accolades! Even if you just played a hand in it all, that Brat has got to be the gold standard of gen 1 brat restorations.

Hey I just read the article again and this brings up a question for me. Were the jump seats "bolted" in originally? Mine are welded. And the thing of it is, I'd rather have 'em bolted.

Thats cool. it reminds me of 1 i looked at a few years ago. it was mint as. same colour even simlar deck cover thingy.

so low milage too

They all came welded in. It's not uncommon to have them cut out and converted to bolt in though.
