March 14, 200917 yr I dont know if i did this but drove my green turd 20 miles home today. I kept getting it to the H point on the Gauge then shut her down. Did this for a while untill i finally got her home. No steam coming out the pipe, no loss of coolant but it boiled over. Probally a stuck t-stat. I might just pull it out and run it open for whoever buys it. I guess my only concern is that i did it for so long i dont know if i cooked it or not. Your thoughts please.
March 15, 200917 yr It does sound like a good way waiste a H.G. or worse, but no real telling till you figure out why its overheating resolve it and run it. I wouldnt run my car with out a t-stat.
March 15, 200917 yr Maybe it has a Blown Hose, the Usual one who Blows First on EA82`s is the 90º Degrees 5/8" Hose that Comes from the Water Pump`s Upper side, Turning over the Engine and Connecting to the Heather Pipes... Because its Location, it usually is not Checked too Often... I Suggest you to Check Everything Related to the Coolin` System, fix the Needed, and Try to Drive your Subie Again... Maybe the Head Gaskets are Fine. ...I wouldnt run my car with out a t-stat. I Believe that is Due to your Area`s Climates, isn`t it? All my Cars are Runnin` Fine Without Thermostat for Many Years and seems like this Keeps the Coolin` System more Healthy; but I Live in the Tropical Caribbean... (No Snow nor Salty Roads here, But our Roads Sucks) ...and the Temp Gauge Barely Reaches 1/4 in normal Driving Conditions.
March 15, 200917 yr It has been my experience that EA82 + overheat due to coolant loss = new headgaskets. Even one time. Maybe immediately, maybe in a number of months. In the milder one time cases, I put up with coolant seeping from the HG for many months. Milder case = last 1/2 mile to house, noticed the gauge a little high, found a pinhole in one of the small hoses spraying out coolant.
March 15, 200917 yr Author No one is getting this thing until i get all the stuff i want out of it. What are you needing it for sir. Im wanting to try and get 150 bucks out of it on craigslist. I need that to fund my new paintjob. Edited March 15, 200917 yr by The Dude Abides
