May 11, 200916 yr 96 legacy sedan 2.2 164k my nieces car,..I bought it for my son who is turning 16 in august check out this section of the head gasket...corrosion..had more of a rust color before I power washed the engine Anyone have an idea if this is a precursor to the gasket failing? should I scrape it loose...spray a little wd-40 so maybe it does not keep corroding? Hope pic shows up
May 11, 200916 yr Much ado about nothing. You're really looking for problems. Drive and enjoy, don't sweat this. That's my opinion.
May 11, 200916 yr your time would be better spent replacing 15 year old hoses and clamps, cleaning/replacing the radiator, etc... to make sure it doesn't overheat and blow the gasket.
May 11, 200916 yr I guess that is why the oil sensors leak? So they prevent the headgaskets from getting rusty!
