Accel Coil, what wires?

Featured Replies

Should I run 8mm or 7mm wires with the Accel Super Stock coil?

Definitely 8mm. You will have to get a set of make your owns though. They don't make a set of 8mm for the EA series cars(at least that I have been able to find).

So you found a rig did you? What did you end up with? You'll have to come by and check out my '85 Brat now that it's done.

I found an 86 with a touch over 100,000 miles for $400. It has electric everything except no sun roof.

Runs really good besides the weak brake pedal. I just need to find the time to work on it.

I will bring it by one day soon and check out the hyper active Brat you have. I have been reading your thread about it.

Like I said in a previous post, if you use the accel superstock coil, you might as well go with the accell 8 mm wires with it.

8 cylinder universal kit is like 24 bucks and you get twice the wires if you get a reg. plug wire kit for a subaru

What motor should you use to order the Accel wires??? ie 350 Chevy, 390 Ford etc etc.

what motor? lol

I think the question was meant to help identify which engine matches a subaru engine when it comes to the correct length of spark plug wires.

If one orders a V-8 set one gets extra cables for not much more money but which engine would give one the proper length cables for a subaru.

like I said in about 3 other Accel coil/wire/plug threads

there are 8 wires in there, use the ones that you think it the best.

I like my wires a little longer so I used the longest ones

and then I ahve 4 shorter ones that I could swap out to.

The longer set I have on are about 2 inches longer then what you'd get if you specified you wanted OEM plug wires

The shorter ones are just a hair longer then the subaru ones.

This is getting way more complicated than it needs to be:

I will have two extra sets of blue Taylor 8MM universal 4 cyl wire sets this week. I found a deal on three new sets last week. Should be here by early next week. I will only need one set. Interested?

Accel 5040K is a universal 8mm set that you cut and crimp to fit. Comes with the crimping die that you clamp in a vise and works real good. Then you can cut to your own length. I used the 5 shortest, the next 4 are over double the lenght of the shortest a Subaru 4 cyl. needs for future use.
