This is where I am at the moment. @john in KY @el_freddo @DaveT @idosubaru Checking all wires in the engine bay. I found a torn exposed wire related to the alternator and a couple of "orphan" wires. At one point the car blew the fusible link perhaps associated to the starter or the alternator. So the fault could be there. Even the alternator could be the culprit, it could be shorted somehow now that I think about it. The injector harnesses look fine although I will put new harnesses and verify that they aren't shorting each other afterwards.
  2. 2004 California outback's had a different head with single port. Yes you can. Be sure to use Subaru #642 turbo head gaskets
  3. That's a crack. Whether it occurred during manufacture or later when it was running is anyone's guess - probably from cooling when it was cast. The EA82T heads are prone to cracking into the cooling jackets though if pushed hard. I wouldn't run them particularly hard. Anyone that has attempted more than 150 WHP from the EA82T has not had it last long. They just weren't up to the task. Properly setup and monitored though they can last a decent amount of time at stock power or slightly over - 120 at the wheels for example. The biggest problem is now the lack of parts and the frustrating complexity of the whole assembly compared to an EJ that can quadruple their performance with ease and are much simpler overall without the tendency toward ticking lifters, cracking heads, etc. GD
  4. My local wholesale pricing isn't that great - not compared to online pricing. That's why shops charge so much for parts. Our local suppliers deliver to us - we have about 9 deliveries each week day from two different wholesale suppliers. We get decent prices but there's plenty of online sources that will meet or beat our pricing - we just generally can't wait days for parts. We usually need the stuff right away and sometimes we are waiting on parts to arrive even though the wait is only an hour or two. GD
  5. Thanks for the suggestions. I had forgotten about car-part.com. Binford is where I ended up going. It was raining sideways so I gave them $25 to pull it for me for pickup tomorrow. The bushing looks like it may have been a little rough, but I need to get this car on the road ASAP. It is parked somewhere it shouldn't be and not drivable like it is. Thanks again.
