  1. Well, I went to jack up the Brat the other night, and the jack started to bust through the subfarme due to rust. I think it is clost to the end of the road for that one, more details on Saturday. And as for the '83 wagon, I just dont think it's fast enough to keep up with traffic on the 4-lanes. However, one of these days, I will barrow the father in laws trailer and bring one up. So what time is everyone meeting? I am looking forward to it! Kurt
  2. Hey, I am up for going all over the place, I have all sorts of time. But what I dont have is a subaru that will make it up to the twin cities. So look for the guy driving and orange dakota with a bag on his head. (taking a dodge to a subaru outing, how embarassing!)
  3. I don't know about numbchux, but I'll be in the "gentelman's club"! No, seriously, I would like to stop and check that out for sure! What is the name or adress of the shop? Also, as a side note, I DO like pizza!
  4. I would be up for it, I am pretty sure I dont have anything going on that day! I would be up for hitting some mud and then grabbing a bite to eat. How does midmornig sound to ya?
  5. Johny Cash, Hank Williams, BR549, Incubus, Foo fighters, Jimmy Eat World, Heart, ELO, and The Big Wu just to name a few. But for my money, my Favorite is The Dark Side of the Moon.
  6. Are we to assume this is the 2wd hatch you had for sale recently? Do we get to see pictures or do we have to wait and be surprised? Anyways, I am all for driving the wagon or brat up, sounds like everyone will have a good time!
  7. Definitally the burnt orange, but then again, thats the color of my Dodge Dakota, so I am kinda partial to it! I do think it looks sharp though!
  8. Count me in! I could either trailer up the wagon(she wont handle interstate speeds!), or maybe I could just drive up and ride with someone on the trails! I'd also like to put some names with the faces of my Minnesota counterparts! McBrat, if you should happen to come up I-35, we could me in Owatonna and convoy up. Later, kurt
  9. Welcome! I am also from Minnesota, and I am thrilled to see more and more people popping up on here from Mn! What kind of subaru(s) do you have?
  10. AH-HA! The cloud of ignorance has been lifted! I feel like a new man! I'm off to the garage to show that roll pin whos boss! thanks a ton, everyone!
  11. Hello Everybody! Alright, heres my problem. I am replacing my right front cv shaft on my 1984 wagon, 1.8 with the 4 speed. I finally got the old shaft out (someone please tell me this gets quicker the more you do it!), and I started to put the new shaft back in. Until I hit this speed bump: I cannot get the roll pin back in on the transaxle side of the shaft! It pounded out okay, but I just cant get the darn thing back in! I tried a little grease on it, I have tried cleaning it out, and I have even tried to squeze it in using a c-clamp. :-\ No luck on anything so far. Any tips or advice? Do I need to put in a new roll pin? Do I even need the roll pin? Thanks for any advice, Kurt
  12. Also Sorry i didnt make it!:-\ I didnt read about it until today, but maybe next time I could bring the brat up!
  13. I LOVE crucks! 1 El Camino, 1 Brat, still looking for that right rampage and ranchero!
  14. Very cool! I am a big fan of the "sedan pickup" idea, no matter who makes it. Although, I never quite got into the vw version! Is the Merkur awd? I sure would like to see your project in person sometime!
  15. I am in Waseca, which is 15 miles west of owatonna. Hmmm, mabey fuel injection is the way to go. :-\ I assume I would have to swap out a computer too?
  16. SO, would I be better off selling the low milage motor and just rebuilding the turbo? Will a turbo bolt to the manual transmission? Has anyone experemnted with ground cams or decked heads on a turbo? I would like to build up a "hot" motor for someday when I find a brat in good shape, and I thought it would make a great winter project. Thanks again for everyones help and advice!
  17. Hey everyone! I have a motor out of an 83 wagon with 30,000 miles on it. I also can buy a parts car, which is also an 83, witha turbo on it. My question is, can I bolt the turbo on the low milage motor? Is it worth doing? What else will I need to swap over(computer or anything)? I would like to get a little more power out of my motor, but I would like to keep it looking stock. I plan on decking the heads and getting a custom ground camshaft also. Thanks, Kurt
  18. I am interested in putting 14" Pug wheels on my 86 brat. I was wondering which modles these wheels were offered on when new, so I know what to look for in the junkyards. Also, how big of a tire can you put on these wheels without rubbing? And last, if I wanted to run a little bit bigger tire, how would I lift it? Thanks, Kurt
  19. Does anyone happen to know if the gas tank on a mid 80's Brat is the same as the one on a mid 80's Hatch back? I just found two more parts cars, a green 84 hatch, and a blue 85 sedan. I think it is time for my friends and family to have an intervention! But on the brighter side, I should have enough parts to last the life of my wagon and Brat! Thanks, Kurt
  20. I would be more than happy to drive down from Southern Minnesota, I am only 45 minutes from the boarder! Please keep us al updated, and I'll bring some beer! Kurt
  21. I am really interested to know what you did for a cam. Did you have someone machine a new one for you, or did you have an old one ground? Do you happen to know what you used for specs? I would really like to put a cam in my 1800, but its so nice to hear from other people that have already done it, and what they have found works best. Thanks, Kurt
  22. It's nice to know I am not alone! Thanks for your support! We'll all get through this toghether! Kurt
  23. ad·dic·tion (-dkshn) The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or or involved in something. I just picked up my third Subaru, and I think I'm addicted! This one is an 1984 gl wagon, 4x4 4speed. I saw it sitting in a guys driveway when I was visiting my grandparents for Christmas. Since 80's Subarus are getting tough to come by here in southern Minnesota, I decided to stop and ask him if he was ever going to sell it. I left my number, and he called back about a week later! We agreed upon a price of $225, and I drove it the two hour trip home without a problem. This is one addicition I will never need a 12 step program for! Kurt P.S. Now lets just hope the neighbors dont notice!
  24. Hello! I need to remove the windshield from my 84 wagon. Is there any tips or tricks involved with this? I tried to take out a windshield from an El Camino once, but that didnt turn out so great. Frustation + impatience = hammer time. But I dont want to go down that road this time. Any help is greatly appreciated! Kurt
  25. Count me in too! There never seems to be any subarus on the muscle car calendars I get from the auto parts store. I wonder why?
